A FABULOUS DAY!
What a fabulous day we had at Buckland St Mary Flower Show!
The hall looked spectacular, and we couldn’t be prouder of what everyone achieved. This year we had a massive 25 new entrants bringing the total up to 90. We are always delighted to see new names appear and are always thrilled to welcome back the people who reliably enter and support us every year. It’s the combination of these two things that help the show go from strength to strength.

A massive thank you to everyone who entered, came along to support us and donated anything to make the show possible. A huge thank you to the group of judges, stewards and people who help behind the scenes, the Needham family for supplying us with tea, coffee, cake and Prosecco. It takes a lot of resources to put the show on and put the show back to bed. Thank you to everyone who stayed until the end and helped us pack away. Many hands make light work and it really is appreciated by the team.

This year we saw some brilliant entries. This year the judge was torn between jam or bread for the cup for best exhibit so decided to give it to both. Well done Elisabeth Poland and Tanya Hetherington. They did say that the two things were a marriage made in heaven. Nicky Needham swept the board in the Bakes and also in the Floral Art. Her woodland arrangement was on both the stunning and the large side…..just like the cake she serves us on the refreshments stand!
The display of ‘Twiddle Muffs’ that will be donated to a local care home for Parkinson’s and Dementia patients today were an array of colours and textures. Sue Marsden won the craft class with the help of this and her highly imaginative Hungry Caterpillar.

Adam Hill a new entry to photography swept the board with his adventurous collection of photographs. His sunset picture gained him two cups for both the judge's choice award and the class with the most points in the show. His father Charles (a previous regular winner) has clearly taught him well!
Victoria Southcott had a great day winning the cup for the Yarty Gardening Club, the Rose and the Wright Runner Bean cup. She was, however, pipped at the post for the most points by Penny Powe.

George Wakley made a come back this year and swept the board in fruit and veg for his great selection from his garden allotment. We know how thrilled he and his family were that he achieved this.

Neil Rixon (whoever he may be!) managed to retain his title for Sloe Gin and the 'People's Choice Award' for the Limerick. This year he shares that with our very own Julie Campbell. This could make our team socials painful in the future!

Our children did a great job. The Lego models were brilliant and the Feely Boxes….they were both imaginative and felt disgusting! Well done to all of the children and a special shout out to Imogen Woods who won prizes in kids classes and the Rene Marker Star Baker cup, an adult class.
We made a massive £1,050 for Parkinson’s UK.

Thank you from a very proud
